TALENT MANAGEMENT
Competency based interviews / Job profiling
The key to successful recruitment, selection and talent management is being aware of the requirements of the roles to be fulfilled both now and in the future. In order to reach that understanding, it is essential to devise job profiles that reflect the mission, vision and business objectives of an organisation. Job profiling involves carrying out a task analysis to select the tasks most critical in a role as well as a skills analysis to identify the skills and skill levels required to perform effectively in that role.
Competency frameworks are developed to translate these tasks and skill requirements into observable behaviours. The theory behind competency frameworks is that past work behaviour is a good predictor of future job performance. Competency based interviewing provides a map of the behaviours that are recognised and rewarded in the organisation and focus on the specific skills or competencies required to succeed in that role.
